Position Summary: The Full-Time Sushi Chef is responsible for preparing and presenting sushi dishes in a fast-paced environment. This role requires a high level of creativity, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service. This is an hourly, full-time, non-exempt position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present sushi dishes, including rolls, sashimi, and nigiri, to the highest quality standards
  • Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and prepared according to health and safety guidelines
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen areas
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new menu items and specials
  • Provide exceptional customer service by engaging with customers and accommodating special requests
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed
  • Participate in seasonal and promotional social media activities to enhance sales

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role
  • Expertise in various sushi preparation techniques
  • Excellent knife skills and a keen eye for detail
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Upbeat, positive, and energetic attitude
  • Proficiency in English; Spanish language skills are a plus
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Non-slip shoes are mandatory for a safe working environment ( please note that the company does not provide them )

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while maintaining focus and precision
  • Capability to lift and move heavy items (up to 50 lbs)
  • Skilled in both gross and fine manipulation
  • Peripheral vision and near/far visual accuracy
  • Effectively hear and respond to instructions in a bustling environment
  • Manual dexterity for intricate culinary work
  • Use of step-stools and ladders as needed
  • Reaching above, at, and below waist level
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and move fluidly around
  • Comfortable working in diverse temperatures (hot, humid, cold) and tolerating moderate amounts of dust and cleaning agents
  • Able to handle a wide variety of fresh ingredients without adverse allergic reactions
  • Maintain stability and balance while executing tasks efficiently
  • Convey instructions clearly and communicate with team members effectively, even in busy or noisy environments
