Job Description

Job Summary:

The Research Technician will be working in the Meat Science and Animal Biologics Discovery (MSABD) research lab assisting with the following:
- Assisting in the preparation of various lab materials such as chemical solutions.
- Stockroom duties including washing glassware, inventory control, safety data sheet management, general cleaning, waste management, etc.
- Assisting in experiment preparation, data collection, and data analytics.

Responsibilities:

Conducts research experiments with limited supervision. Provides technical support with some degree of independence for research projects and/or labs under moderate supervision.
  • 70% Prepares lab and/or field test materials and samples according to established research requirements and specifications. Performs lab or field tests.
  • 10% Inspects and maintains equipment, supplies, inventory, and facility spaces
  • 10% Collects data and monitors test results according to established research requirements and specifications
  • 5% May assist with literature reviews and/or report writing
  • 5% Reviews data to summarize results for presentations or reporting

Qualifications:

Required
- Previous experience in a research lab setting
- Strong interpersonal skills to work within a team environment.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and planning skills.
- The ability to work independently.

Preferred
- Background in microbiology, animal science, food science, chemistry, or biochemistry.

Work Schedule:

This position will be required to work 40 hours per week with the intended schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:45am - 4:30pm. Hours will be flexible in order to ensure operational needs are met.

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding

Salary:

Minimum $20.00 HOURLY
