Job Description

PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER (Permanent) Our client, a civic organization in WNY, is looking to hire a Public Relations Officer to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a resident of the City of Buffalo who is looking for a great work-life balance.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop communication strategies for a high-profile office, ensuring effective approaches are taken at all times
  • Oversee the development and management of the department website
  • Write and edit speeches for public officials for various speaking engagements—ex. Press releases
  • Prepare public official with appropriate answers to possible interview questions
  • Act as the primary media contact for the office, coordinating coverage for events and fielding any questions that might arise
  • Develop social media content for the office, developing the online presence according to the overall media goals of the office
  • Organize various community outreach events
  • Collaborate with the Executive Assistant regarding events, media coverage, and other public relations activities
  • Ensure a professional approach is maintained at all times
  • Analyze current processes and procedures to identify areas for improvement and implement appropriate changes
  • Complete special projects in a timely manner, with the ability to juggle multiple high priority assignments with ease
  • Work well in a team environment as well as independently
  • Other duties as assigned/as necessary

 

Details:

  • Position is full-time, direct hire
  • 100% in-office
  • Must live in the City of Buffalo or move to the city within 6 months of start date
  • $55,000 - $65,000 annually depending on experience
  • Excellent Health/Dental/Vision Insurance or Healthcare allowance, PTO, Retirement match
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or related
  • 2+ years’ experience in Public Relations, Media Outreach, Speech writing
  • Portfolio/samples of work to be provided upon request
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-motivated
  • Relocation not available
